Job Description
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and efficient data pipelines and data warehouses. You will work with large datasets, ensuring data quality, reliability, and accessibility for various downstream applications, including analytics, reporting, and machine learning. This role involves close collaboration with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to understand data requirements and deliver robust data solutions that drive business value.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into our data lake and data warehouse.
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using big data technologies and cloud services.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across all data platforms.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data needs and provide efficient data access solutions.
- Optimize data models and queries for performance and scalability.
- Monitor data pipelines and resolve issues promptly to ensure continuous data availability.
- Implement data governance and security best practices.
- Contribute to the evaluation and adoption of new data technologies and tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on building and managing data pipelines.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with big data technologies.
- Strong programming skills in at least one relevant language.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Required Technical Skills
- **Programming Languages:** Python (preferred), Scala, or Java.
- **Big Data Technologies:** Apache Spark, Hadoop, Flink.
- **Databases:** PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, Redshift, MongoDB, Cassandra.
- **Cloud Data Platforms:** AWS Glue, S3, EMR, Athena; Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks; Google Cloud Dataflow, BigQuery.
- **ETL/Orchestration Tools:** Apache Airflow, Luigi, Prefect.
- **Version Control:** Git.
- **Operating Systems:** Linux/Unix.
